my computer is freezing
Whenever i start guildwars it has 200+ files to downloadand after it downloads them it exits the download patch and then my computer freezes ... I do not know what is causing this but i think its the new patch for me. I have High speed internet with a modem so i shouldnt have any problems but i have tried 4 times and every time my computer freezes after patch has download.

Andre, sometimes the updater has trouble with the incremental updates. Try to find a file called GW.dat in your Program Files\Guild Wars folder. Close GW, delete that file, and start GW again. The updater will download one big update. It will take a while, but this oftentimes solves problems with new updates.

Ouch. Not something I'd like to do.. Tho the client is playable pretty quickly, even after deleting the whole dat-file.. on high speed connections that is.
Would imagine that isn't something 56k modem users wouldn't like a single bit.

You could try (if you have the physcial cd for guildwars) to do a repair install (if you haven't deleted your gw.dat file). If that doesn't fix it, go with Dex's solution.

There is a new login / character creation screen. Once you log in with that character, the summary gets updated. All accounts are stored with anet's server's, not your local pc. Deleting the file will not harm your account in any way.
